  • Does this product contain lead and is it safe to have in my home?
All stained glass pieces are known to contain a certain amount of lead, whether it be from lead came used or the percentage of lead in the solder applied to seal the glass together. Lead is a toxin when inhaled or ingested. While a completed stained glass window hanging in a space is not harmful, one should always wash hands thoroughly with soap and warm water after handling lead. Stained glass created by Eldritch Glass is not meant to be handled excessively as it is generally intended for display purposes. There should be no negative side effects or reactions if proper hand washing follows handling or hanging stained glass or leaded art. Children should not handle any stained glass or leaded piece of art and should stay clear if any glass becomes broken as it may be sharp and can cause bodily harm. Adults should exercise safety when handling and disposing of broken glass pieces. Stained glass and leaded art is delicate and unforgiving in nature, it should always be handled with care by an adult to prevent breakage and/or injury.
  • Why is stained glass so expensive?
The cost of stained glass art depends on factors such as size, complexity, piece count, variety and rarity of glass used, as well as other materials such as solder, copper foil, and other chemicals. And we can't forget, creating a piece of a stained glass art can take 40+ hours for a larger, more detailed piece! Eldritch glass appreciates how hard you work for your money, and we want to make sure you are getting your monies worth! We take great pride in our craft and treat each piece of art as if it were going to be displayed in our own home.
  • What is the best way to display my stained glass art?
IT IS STONGLY RECOMMENDED THAT YOU HANG YOU PIECE SECURELY FROM A STURDY HOOK THAT HAS BEEN SCREWED INTO A SECURE MATERIAL SUCH AS A WALL STUD OR WOODEN WINDOW FRAME. If you want to use a suction cup hanger attached to a window, make sure that it is a quality suction cup designed to support the weight of your piece. Just be aware that there is always a risk of breakage when hanging glass art from suction cups in this way.
  • Why doesn't the piece I ordered look exactly as is pictured?
Please keep in mind that no two pieces of hand made stained glass are identical, which is part of what makes this medium so special! While it is normal for each piece of colored glass to have slight imperfections or variation in color or texture, great care is taken during the creation of each piece to make sure that customer expectations are met.
  • What's the best way to clean my stained glass?
Each of our pieces have been thoroughly cleaned and then sealed with a specialized stained glass finishing compound. Aside from a gentle dusting, you may never need to clean your piece. If further cleaning is required, wet a soft cloth with distilled water and wipe clean (hard water could spot the glass). Try not to overwet the cloth, spray the glass, or allow water to leak between the glass panes and window seams. DO NOT USE SCOURING PADS, STEEL WOOL, OR ANYTHING THAT CONTAINS AMMONIA OR ABRASIVE CLEASNERS.
  • What long term care measures can I take to extend the life of my piece?
To ensure your stained glass maintaines its lustre for years to come: reseal your piece twice a year to protect from tarnishing. Speacialty stained glass finishing compound can be found online or at your local stained glass supply store. For a thrifty alternative, you can also use a good quality spray furtniture polish or spray car wax that contains carnauba wax. Spray on a soft rag, polish metal and glass surfaces. Once dry, buff with a clean, soft rag to a brilliant shine.
